Level Design - Creative Techniques Learned and Used
During part of this assignment i learned a few 3D Modelling and Level Design Techniques that have helped me.
The first Level Design Technique I'd like to raise, is the use of a One Way Valve. A One Way Valve is used to push a player past a point of no return or a point that the player cannot access again during the game or level. There are many types of one way valves such as high ledges that cannot be climbed, environmental effects such as a cave in or collasping rubble
The second Level Design Technique i'd like to raise is, Lock and Key. Lock and Key is very simple in the way that the player has to have an item in order to get through to the next area or access a door for example.
Common Examples of this are doors that require keys in games such like Skyrim, Fallout, Dead Rising. In order to progress further in a level or area
I have used the above level design techniques in my level and they can be seen in the video i submitted on the 3D Blockout page
